The Dry Drunk

A dry drunk is someone who demonstrates alcoholic behavior and thought, but did not really have any alcohol. A Dry Drunk displays the same signs and symptoms as an immature alcoholic, such as denial, anger, resentment and emotional and spiritual. In fact, there are many dry drunks in rooms in twelve steps. They went to Alcoholics Anonymous for years but still live a life unmanageable in their struggle through each day without a drink.

Unfortunately, a drunkard drystill not sober, at least not in the spiritual sense of being conscious and mentally at peace with himself and others. He still aspires to alcohol in a social sense because alcohol was his best friend. The chances are high that a dry drunk will relapse again and again because they are not healthy spiritually, emotionally and mentally. In essence, they have difficulty managing negative emotions and issues that affect their daily lives.

The good news is drunk dry condition maybe completely eradicated from the life of a person, and they can be productive and happy people never have a sip of alcohol. I call this the total sobriety. Total sobriety is getting to the root of the alcohol problems first and then tackle the drinking problem, which is only a symptom of something greater happening in the alcoholic. We often forget the mental, emotional and spiritual of alcohol, and instead focus solely on drinking. The drink is secondarydependence.

All alcoholics need some kind of inner healing, and if they know or not is another matter. An alcoholic drinks to feel better emotionally and mentally. This course is part of the problem which gives the constraint of alcoholic drink. Intense emotions such as anxiety, fear, panic, mistrust and insecurity are some of the most common signs that the alcoholic thinks he needs another drink. A drunk dry do not use alcohol to treather feelings, so they suffer needlessly every day of their lives.

If the drinker drank dry so they will not have to suffer? Of course not. They should focus on healing the inner demons in their retreat from their old life (sin, emotions, pride, selfishness, addictions, past) to God. Unfortunately, many dry drunks eventually find another addiction to overcome, which removes once more their emotions and prevents them from seeking God for their life's challenges.

WhyDry drunk still not happy and at peace with himself? Why some alcoholics find it difficult to come to total abstinence? They do not go to the root of the problem of alcohol and they do not go to God for inner healing, they desperately need. God is our source - period! What is so hard about believing that? God is what makes a person whole in body, mind and soul, for he is our source!

Total abstinence is a healthy body, mind and soul. Without all three componentssobriety to come to light for the alcoholic, he or she will almost always want alcohol and live in an unmanageable state, we lived to drink, drink and get there.
