Declaring God's Victory

Ahhh, the sweet smell of victory.

We all want it: Victory over our enemies -- a difficult person or a problem like alcohol, drugs, disease, or obesity. You name it.

We can try to do it ourselves. Or, we can let God do it.

His word says in 1 Corinthians 15:57 that he "giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

So how do we get that victory?

There are no magic formulas, but here is what I did when I was suffering from Environmental Illness: I surrendered my life to God, pledged my obedience to him and sought lots of prayers from others. God heard our prayers and delivered me from this illness miraculously in one night.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 13, the parable of the girdle marred by the Euphrates River -- that we are nothing without God. So, our victory needs to start with Jesus. It needs to start by asking him into our hearts and pledging he will be our Lord and Savior. It needs to start by a complete surrender to God.

When we are obedient to God, he is ready to hear our prayers.

"Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

"And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day..." Isaiah 58:9-10

The Bible tells us we also need to have faith.

"If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
"Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting," Matthew 17:20, 21.

Whatever comes, we need to remember God is for us, as King David tells us in Psalm 56.

"For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living," Psalm 56:13.

God wants us to be happy. He wants us to be healthy and successful. He wants us to live a peaceful life. He wants to deliver us from the oppression of the devil.

Let's face it. The devil is behind the alcoholism, the drugs, the obesity, the strife, etc. etc. etc. God wants us to be free.

So even if things looks bleak, or if things even seem worse after we pray, we need to see to our situations with the eyes of faith. We need to pray and fast for the mountain to move.

Getting someone else to agree with us for our need also is effective.

"...if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven," Jesus says in Matthew 18:19.
