Many people believe that alcohol is simply someone who drinks too much and too often in general. While that describe certain aspects of alcoholism are far from the actual image. In addition to this is the Christian alcoholic who is full of contradictions, but is usually in one or more of these models. Alcoholics simply can not control their drinking once they start.
In the book Alcoholics Anonymous, we find an interesting passage: "Thefact is that most alcoholics, for reasons yet obscure, have lost the power of choice in drink. Our will supposedly become almost nonexistent. We are not at times, putting in our consciousness with sufficient force the memory of suffering and humiliation of even a week or a month. We are without defense against the first drink. "
Again in Chapter 3 of the same book, page 30 "We are convinced of a human alcoholics of our type are in the grip of aa progressive disease. During a considerable period we get worse, never better. "
There are of course those who read this and say, "this does describe me at all." Maybe not. On the other hand, perhaps a closer examination in the absence of pride to admit that it will be be at least somewhat true, and to explore the issue a bit further. As for me I was one of those who apparently was alcoholic before I took the drink first because the firstI wanted to drink more, I wanted more, I became more and I'm drunk. The first drunk I wanted to feel like that all day.
A regular drinker can enjoy relaxing a little fun that alcohol when consumed in moderation. This person may even enjoy making a little drunk on special occasions, but would not have much feeling and they want very often. The alcoholic, the other really likes the feeling of intoxication, want to feel very intoxicated, andnever what he or she needs to do to achieve their goal of extreme intoxication.
For reasons not entirely clear that some people like to drink like a drinker called maintenance. Someone who drinks regularly throughout the day does rip roaring drunk, but never completely sober either. Then there are drinkers who will perhaps for weeks or even years between the two drunken sprees may last for weeks or months at a time.
It has been my observation and mypersonal experience that the maintenance drinkers often begin to have binge and heavy drinkers often have their binges are increasingly frequent. Towards the end of the two types have periods of mild intoxication, followed by periods of extreme intoxication. I noticed the weekend drinker who used to start Friday night begins to start Friday afternoon and Thursday night, the revelry continues until Monday morning and Tuesday. Soon a glass or two is required on all morningcalm a hangover and calm nerves.
But one thing is very predictable about any alcohol consumption patterns is of the opinion that the situation will get worse and worse and worse consequences that follow. I found this is also true of Christians alcoholic as he is among those who have no religious belief at all.
The final destination of the alcohol is either a mental institution, prison or death. It is a bleak prospect for alcoholics. The good news is that there is help! The Lord Jesus Christ is in the company that changes lives! Whether you are delivered instantly from your obsession with alcohol and your compulsion to get drunk or gradually, as is the case with many, there is hope, it is true, I hope you take advantage now .
Why did not I instantly released my obsession alcoholic? I do not know. I think the program of Alcoholics Anonymous is the will of God for me to increase my understanding, my pride and kill me every day depend on themercy of God. to work in my life.
