Millions of people overcome alcoholism on a daily basis and unfortunately, it is a very difficult task to accomplish without the pieces in place.
To begin to move into abstinence and recovery of alcohol there are 5 questions that must be clearly understood and answered in the affirmative. These may sound deceptively simple, but without answering, we are dead in the water. Here we go:
1. I have a problem, and is italcohol?
This is easier asked than answered. Many people have problems, my husband, my job a DUI, etc., but you find that many of them are alcohol related? If the answer is yes, I have a problem and it is alcohol, we advanced.
2. What I wantstop drinking?
Overcoming alcoholism is a yes or no questions, no "Maybe" or "but" allowed. Abstinence means to stop completely, trying not to kill. Many alcoholics know they have a problem, but whether they still enjoy drinking or the pain is too great to stop.
3. It is time to stop?
"I can quit anytime I want to do, I do not want to do. I know I should stop, but ... "These are just some common attitudes thatRecovery of alcohol block start. Many people are overwhelmed by the idea of drinking more than ever and are looking for any reason not to take the first step.
4. Are you ready to develop a plan for sobriety?
Just making the decision to stop drinking and stop is not enough. Most people fail because they did not plan a good recovery viable place. Not having a plan is just as dangerous as doing a poor plan. Get help from crediblesophisticated or professional groups.
5. Putting this plan into action.
You can have the best plan in the world, but if it is not applied is not good at all. One of the most common causes of relapse with alcohol is complacency. Many people have invested time and energy and money in learning what must be done and then they decide on the plan. Persistence and awareness day is key to healing.
